who this unit plan is for.

If this sounds like you, then you are in the right place.

BEFORE WE DIVE INTO THE DETAILS, LET'S TALK ABOUT

SO, WHAT'S INCLUDED IN THE UNIT PLAN?

1. INTRODUctory presentation

Who doesn't like a good deal, right? I've reached out to some of my favorite education-related companies to offer exclusive discounts on items you may need for the classroom. There are discounts on teacher bags, library book stamps, custom pencils, lanyards, teacher t-shirts and much more!

The slideshow will hook students into reading the play immediately, spark discussion, and provide students with useful information and practical context to prepare them to read.

Start the Romeo and Juliet unit plan with this 21-slide interactive PowerPoint presentation that includes pre-reading discussion questions, an interactive class activity, a biography of William Shakespeare, a fun review quiz, and context and background information on the play.

2. CLASSROOM POSTERS

This Romeo and Juliet poster display includes nine creative and funny posters to hook students into their reading of Romeo and Juliet!

This display comes with nine eye-catching posters, each with a funny statement related to the plot that allows students to connect with the play. There is also a title display banner to showcase the posters underneath that looks great on a classroom bulletin board.

3. Chapter Summaries

These summary cards are an excellent classroom reference for both teacher and student. The 24 printable act and scene summary cards outline the most important plot moments from Romeo and Juliet organized by scene.

Simply print and cut out the cards, and you have a resource available that can be used as a tool for struggling readers, as a quick way to find plot moments, as a tool to find text evidence during essay writing, or as a way to check student comprehension.

4. READING QUIZZES

Use these five reading quizzes to assess student comprehension of the play. Each quiz includes six multiple-choice questions and two important quotes that students must respond to by sharing context. For each quote, students are required to explain what is happening at that point in the plot with any relevant information.

Each quiz covers one act and includes a detailed answer key, which makes for easy grading or class review.

5. VIDEO JOURNALs

Help your students make connections to the play with these video journals. Students will watch a short video clip on YouTube related to a topic, theme, or idea presented in each act (there are ten videos in total - 2 videos per act). A related journal prompt is included, and students share their thoughts and ideas in writing. The videos are not specific to the play, but they relate in a way that allows students to make a text-to-self or text-to-world connection. Teachers should always preview videos to ensure they are  appropriate for their particular students.

6. VOCABULARY

Who doesn't like a good deal, right? I've reached out to some of my favorite education-related companies to offer exclusive discounts on items you may need for the classroom. There are discounts on teacher bags, library book stamps, custom pencils, lanyards, teacher t-shirts and much more!

This resource equips students with the skills to decipher the meaning of unfamiliar words in context. It supports students in improving their ability to use context clues to determine the meanings of new words as they are used within Romeo and Juliet. Presentation slides are also provided for easy class review or grading.

7. READING QUESTIONS

Help your students examine the play    more closely with these reading questions. Organized by act and scene, these questions will check your students' comprehension and challenge them to analyze literary elements in Romeo and Juliet by William Shakespeare. This ready-to-use resource also includes a 74-slide PowerPoint presentation to review the answers with students. The answers are detailed and have text evidence from Romeo and Juliet for support.
